Sudeep Pramanik, MD, MBA

Dr. Pramanik is an ophthalmologist certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology who specializes in cornea and external disease. He performs corneal transplantation (PKP/DLEK/DSEK/DSAEK/DALK), cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK/LASEK/PRK), ocular tumor surgery and reconstruction of the front portion of the eye.

Dr. Pramanik has a strong research interest in international ophthalmology and social entrepreneurship. He has worked with the Aravind Eye Hospitals in India to develop more effective outreach programs aimed at providing eye surgeries to the rural poor. He is an active member of the Combat Blindness Foundation and enjoys traveling on medical missions.

He has published papers and abstracts in corneal transplantation for keratoconus and Fuchs’ dystrophy. As a fellow at the University of Iowa, he participated in their development of techniques in endothelial keratoplasty (DLEK/DSEK). Descriptions and videos of his work can be seen on www.eyerounds.org, an educational website developed for patients and students. He is currently involved with several eye banks and hospitals in India to develop endothelial transplant programs.

His hobbies include tennis, home improvement projects, running and cooking.

He has lived all across the US - including Arizona, Louisiana, Texas, Washington, and Iowa - and is happy to have settled in Pennsylvania with his lovely wife, Reena.
